چکیده

The high-temperature susceptibility of the q-state Potts model behaves as Γ|T − Tc| as T → Tc+, while for T → Tc− one may define both longitudinal and transverse susceptibilities, with the same power law but different amplitudes ΓL and ΓT . We extend a previous analytic calculation of the universal ratio Γ/ΓL in two dimensions to the low-temperature ratio ΓT /ΓL, and test both predictions with Monte Carlo simulations for q = 3 and 4. The data for q = 4 are inconclusive owing to large corrections to scaling, while for q = 3 they appear consistent with the prediction for ΓT /ΓL, but not with that for Γ/ΓL. A simple extrapolation of our analytic results to q → 1 indicates a similar discrepancy with the corresponding measured quantities in percolation. We point out that stronger assumptions were made in the derivation of the ratio Γ/ΓL, and our work suggests that these may be unjustified.

Universal amplitude ratios in the two-dimensional q-state Potts model and percolation from quantum field theory

We consider the scaling limit of the two-dimensional q-state Potts model for q ≤ 4. We use the exact scattering theory proposed by Chim and Zamolodchikov to determine the one and two-kink form factors of the energy, order and disorder operators in the model. Correlation functions and universal combinations of critical amplitudes are then computed within the two-kink approximation in the form fa...

An exact universal amplitude ratio for percolation

The universal amplitude ratio R̃ ξ for percolation in two dimensions is determined exactly using results for the dilute A model in regime 1, by way of a relationship with the q-state Potts model, with q 6 4. The numerical result obtained by Delfino and Cardy by quantum field theory techniques agrees well with the algebraic expression determined here. Percolation is a subject which can be describ...

A study of logarithmic corrections and universal amplitude ratios in the two-dimensional 4-state Potts model

Monte Carlo (MC) and series expansion (SE) data for the energy, specific heat, magnetization and susceptibility of the two-dimensional 4-state Potts model in the vicinity of the critical point are analysed. The role of logarithmic corrections is discussed and an approach is proposed in order to account numerically for these corrections in the determination of critical amplitudes. Accurate estim...

Numerical revision of the universal amplitude ratios for the two-dimensional 4-state Potts model

Monte Carlo (MC) simulations and series expansion (SE) data for the energy, specific heat, magnetization and susceptibility of the ferromagnetic 4-state Potts model on the square lattice are analyzed in a vicinity of the critical point in order to estimate universal combinations of critical amplitudes. The quality of the fits is improved using predictions of the renormalization group (RG) appro...
